Fantastic for Home Theater
About a week ago, I upgraded to the Klipsch Sub-12 from a lower powered 10" sub to complete the 7.1 home theater set up in my 12ft by 19ft basement room. I watch a lot of action movies and concerts on Blu-Ray/DVD. I highly recommend this subwoofer if you like to feel the deep bass and to shake the house. I located the sub at the front left corner of the room (about 10" away from the walls). This Klipsch seems to play noticeably deeper and louder (with power to spare) than the sub that I replaced. The sound from the subwoofer is not directional. Its sound just fills the room.

One small negative (easily fixed) is the small blue LED light on the lower front face of the subwoofer cabinet. The light shows that the sub is ON and operating. In my dark room, the LED is too bright. My solution was to simply put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light to hide it. The tape blends in with the cabinet and is not noticeable.

BOOM BOOM! Clean LOWS!
I owned the original Klipsch Sub-12 (same model as Sub-12HG except minor cosmetics) and gave it to a friend a couple years ago. I've regretted doing that ever since and have been on the look-out for a powered sub with comparable quality at a competitive price. Needless to say, I haven't had much luck... until the Sub-12HG went on sale for $250!!! You can't find ANYTHING comparable for that price, or even around $300. I'm totally stoked and am going to love every minute I have this turned on. Perfect for music, movies, etc. You can control the amount of power the amp delivers to the sub (gain) and the frequency that is allowed to pass through the built in cross-over (adjustable from 40 to 120Hz). The auto-power switch is also a nice feature since you don't have to constantly hassle with turning off the sub when you are done.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with the quality of another sub in this price range... this is really a $500 sub and that's not MSRP crap! To top it...
Pleasant surprise
When I bough this subwoofer I was a bit skeptical. I have been researching for quite a while and narrowed my choices between this Klipsch Sub-12 and a Polk Audio PSW-505. I have been reading all the reviews that praised the sound of the Klipsch for under "$500" and the sort, but said that there are better sounding subwoofers out there in much higher price ranges. While the Polk PSW-505 seems like a very comparable subwoofer based on specs and price alone, I decided to go with the Klipsch because of the down-firing design. After opening, installing and properly setting up this sub, I was completely blown away that such sound can come from a home theater subwoofer. The power is more than anyone would ever need to listen to movies or even music, and the sound itself can hit so low that your whole house will be shaking. Sounds good, but not reliable
I owned this sub-woofer for close to a year and was happy with it, but then the sound started getting louder until after a few months it was impossible to turn the volume of the unit down far enough for it to be usable. At the same time, noise appeared in the audio and I thought I had developed ground loop problems or something like that. Eventually it became unusable, and I never turned it on.

Today, having determined that the unit was way beyond its warranty, I opened it up to see if it was fixable -- it was.

The root cause of the problem was that the washers used to shim the volume control knob were the wrong total thickness. Since the terminals of the resistive element in the potentiometer were soldered into the PCB, this caused stress on the PCB and over time it cracked, the crack propagating through the resistive element. This slowly increased the resistance, so offering a higher resistance in the negative feedback loop of the preamp and increasing the...

Powerful and Clear for Medium-Sized Room
I wondered if this subwoofer would be powerful enough for my 25 x 20 foot room with vaulted ceiling. And, it absolutely is. When the levels are set to high it shakes the entire room with clear, powerful bass.

I did, however, have one initial negative experience when the woofer was inexplicably buzzing. Never having owned a subwoofer before, I just assumed that I hadn't paid enough for a quality subwoofer and that it couldn't handle the power. However, I decided to take the speaker apart to see if there was somthing loose. Sure enough, there was a small wire that was looped onto the speaker that was causing the buzzing. I simply tucked it back away from the speaker and completely fixed the problem. The difference was truly like night and day. Now the speaker is awesome and can handle any power I throw at it.

I suppose this does raise the question of why JBL was sloppy enough to allow the wire to hit the speaker?? Was this a rare thing or something that happens...
Outstanding Subwoofer
I could not be more happy with my purchase of the LBL ES150PBK Subwoofer. The specifications (300 watt, front-firing) speak for themselves, but I am also pleased with the extra long cable included for connecting to my receiver. The design (not square) is pleasing to look at, and the led on the top of the unit to indicate operation is much better than my previous subwoofer that had the same feature, but it was on the back of the unit where you couldn't see it. Overall, an outstanding product for a great price.

Suprised to find excellent 8" In-Ceiling speakers at Amazon!
Recently I replaced two of the ceiling speakers in our church building. Before purchasing on-line I looked all over town trying to locate locally and was more then a little surprised to find that in a town this size, nothing was available. After searching on-line I found this great deal at Amazon. The speakers arrived when promised, were excellent quality and easy to install. I needed a speaker that was between a cheap intercom type and a super high end surround sound type. The quality for voice and music are very good. If I had to replace them again, I wouldn't hesitate to use the same speakers

Good recessed speakers for home theater
I am pleased with the sound of these speakers in a ceiling installation with 5 speakers on a home theater receiver. I do not have a separate woofer.

The sound is fine for a good 3D video experience and for general music with reasonable base, very good mid-range and reasonable treble. The tweeter angle adjustment is much too limited. They require no floor space so that is a major benefit. I may add a satellite woofer someday.

I once had Altec's Voice of the Theater speakers and these Pyle units do not come close, but at 1$ of Altec's what can you expect.

Installation of 5 ceiling speakers required several hours and generated plaster dust that dispersed everywhere. These speakers require a moderately precise round hole. I used a Dremmel multi-tool with a drywall blade and that worked well. Once the hole is complete, installation is easy.

Great Speaker, Great Price
After spending MANY hours researching in-ceiling speakers, I settled on these. We wanted to play music in our showroom (approx 20x50) to break up the silence. We installed 4 speakers and the volume is excellent. Sound quality is really good so far, and very easy to install.
