Great while watching DVD's.
I watch a lot of music video DVD's, and this home theater system has made the sound really jump out at you. Highly configurable, but easy to operate makes this an excellent combination blue-ray player and sound system. It also has built-in wireless capabilites (some other units you have to buy additional components for wireless). These allow me to stream Netflix, access my computers iTunes libraries, and there is an iPod docking station to play your music. If you connect you cable to the unit it enables some additional automatic features.

Outstanding
I went out on a limb and bought this product to go with my new samsung 52" HDTV. And it rocks! I originally was looking at doing high end individual pieces with speakers from fluance that everyone raves about, but since Im not an uber techie who reviews the likes of bose and hangs out in professional sound studios, this system more than does the job. Whats really great is the Anynet device feature that syncs up my tv to the home theater system. I also thought that having the rear speakers be towers would be better but Im quite pleased with the way I have my little guys arranged and they certyainly deliver good sound, even remotely.

The downside, not that it really matters, is that while you can sub in 16 gauge copper wire for the front 3 speakers, you have to use the supplied wires for the erars as they have specially designed adapters for the uplink box. But they still sound fantastic and the sub absolutely booms! My house is filled with sound and my movies look and...

Not a Bose but it does the job.
For the price I paid for this, I got my money's worth. It's no Bose, but it does a nice job with the Samsung LCD I have it running on. They recognize one another and the remotes will work for either. My chief grievance with this, is that there are not enough ports on the back side for all the devices that are out there. It is relatively simple to use, one note is that if you are watching TV or a movie, you will notice a delay (like the dubbed Kung Fu Movies), this setting is easy to adjust, but it is very noticeable at first. I am not sure if this was a mistake at the factory or if this is the factory setting, but it can be adjusted. Samsung has a lot of great FAQ's on their website instead of reading through the manual to figure out how to do something.
Good for the money
Bought it at an excellent price, way cheaper than the local electronic stores in town thanks to a sale at Amazon. Had it shipped for free and received within five days. The set up is simple and to the point. The manual could be improved. One note on the rear speakers; ensure you have the system set up for 5:1 or else the surround speakers (rear-wireless) will not work. This can be done at the set up screen by selecting Sound > Speakers. I have seen a few complaints on the rear speakers not working, and that could be one of the issues. My set up was a breeze and everything works as expected. The front speakers are really good looking and easy to assemble. The speaker wires provided are cheap, so be ready to buy new ones.

Pro's: HDMI Out (1), the picture on DVD's are very good and the sound is astonishing. If you have a Samsung TV with Anynet, the receiver and the TV will work in unison. Pretty cool feature to have, it will allow you to control the TV and the DVD with either...

Confusing manual
I love the system once I figured out how to set it up. The instructions are not helpful, in fact, they describe the system operation opposite of reality. It's all about the wiring. The system comes with a Red/White RCA wire that merges to a 1/8" minijack. It also comes with a special HDMI wire with a mini HDMI on one side. The instructions say if you want the soundbar to be controlled by the TV remote (which is what I wanted) then you need to use a fiber optic cable (not provided). So I bought one for $17 and plugged it in. The sound bar worked but not as described. The TV did not control the soundbar. For grins I decided to plug in the HDMI cable they provided even though the manual said the TV would not control the soundbar in such a configuration. But exactly where to plug it in was another ordeal in itself. The HDMI cable goes in the "ARC" HDMI port on the TV. I didn't even know I had one...but I did. Neither the TV manual nor the soundbar manual provided much detail on...

Workers and sounds great.
Ok, so I read that this Soundbar/Sub sounds great but they are hard to set up and that there are "usability issues"...here is how I set it up in 30min and everything works and sounds perfect.

This system uses the HDMI 1.4 ARC (audio return channel) if you want the soundbar to be automatically controlled. If your TV has an HDMI ARC (will be marked as such) input then connect the Soundbar to that directly. Then connect your Cable/Sat TV, DVD/BluRay, Apple TV, etc.. directly to your TV via HDMI. What should happen is that your TV will then route the audio through the HMDI ARC connection directly to your Soundbar. In turn, this will mean that your TV remote will control the sound, and the soundbar will turn on/off with your TV. The manual is horrible and does not clearly state how to properly connect.

How is the sound. It is pretty good...I have a "nice" component system downstairs and the Samsung unit does not compare to that. If you are looking for component...
Perfect match for our Samsung LED TV!
This Samsung HW-D550 Home Theater System is a simple, yet amazing set of speakers that gets the job done. Our Samsung LED has a very weak single speaker that needs to be set to near "20" to get somewhat room-filling sound. The HW-D550 takes care of that problem and the speaker bar fits on our mantle perfectly! As I said, this is a simple system that works sufficiently to meet our needs; we were not looking for room-rumbling lows or multiple speakers located in every corner. We just wanted a fuller sound at lower volumes with a little bit of bass thrown in.

Good output. Automatic power on.
I bought a Toshiba 40" LCD HDTV several years ago when it was on sale with a very good price (at that time). Then I realize the sound quality of it is really bad as a result of cutting cost. I found this sound bar and the Vizio one on sale at around the same price 2 years ago. After comparing the style and reviews, I decided to keep this Samsung one. I am using the optical output from the TV to connect to the sound bar. It has 2 optical digital and 1 analog input. The mounting is easy. I like its autopower on/off function a lot. When it sees a digital audio input, it will turn itself on within a couple seconds. It will return to standby when there is no audio input for a while. The sound quality is much better than the built-in speaker on the TV and is comparable to my previous 5.1 sound system. In a 400sqft living room, I rarely need to turn it above vol 20. The 3D mode add the depth of sound effect nicely. It may not be the best sound bar, but it seems to be among the top tiers...

Does Everything I want in a DVD/iTouch/iPhone All In One
I have researched long and far for a combo unit that would play DVDs, my iTouch, iPhone in my kitchen. It is just above and beyond my expectations. First it has a menu that appeals on the TV when you go to the HDMI input. Picture images: Video, Music, Setup, etc.... Selecting the picture, will show you the contents of the Video, playlists from iTouch,iPhone, Setup options for the unit.

The DVD upscales the picture to 1080i and changes the format to 16:9 like it was original made for it if you set it up that way. Another surprise is that the DVD playbacks a lot of different formats even avi file formats. No blu-ray nor other dvd players other then my computers can playback a dvd in avi format except for this unit. And it is super clear too.

There are two speakers for each side - a tweeter and a 2" each woofer together putting out 10 watts for a total of 20 watt output which is strangely very loud. Sound is good - I think equals that of a top end Bose table...

An Excellent Little System!
Our daughter wore out her stereo system, and we bought this as a replacement. Our requirements were:

1. Compact vertical system
2. Plays MP3 disks
3. Preferably has USB port for MP3 player
4. Nice sound
5. No more than a little over 100 bucks
6. Radio would be nice
7. Really good reviews

As you can see, our requirements don't seem very demanding these days. We weren't looking for a lot of bells and whistles. We did find that it was difficult to get a simple system with good reviews at a low price anymore, though. We ended up finding this little system at our local member warehouse store, for less than we were willing to pay. It's apparently pretty new, as I couldn't find many reviews on it, but the few I did find were good, though the one person mentioned it being a little buggy.

We took a chance on it anyway. I'm glad we did!

A real tried and tested review - not perfect but a step forward
I have been looking for a vertical dvd player in order to save space in a small family room. My previous setup was a toshiba dvd, a wii, a directv box and a Sony Bravia. These product seemed to be the solution I was looking for.
Unfortunately not, I am still wondering if I will keep it.

- The DVD player also plays several other disc formats (except Blu Ray). This works great.
- The Speakers are Ok, not great. I wanted the Vizio sound bar but the idea of speakers and dvd won. If you are a sound freak this might not be for you.
- Looks are awesome, very sleek and modern.
- Ipod playback: I expected it to at least be able to use the Ipod as an online content receptor. As other devices (check Panasonic's) you can connect the Ipod and download content from the web and tranfer video to TV and sound to the speakers. This device only reproduces content that is already stored in the Ipod. A real drawback.
- ARC sound seems to work only for Samsung TVs, not...

Excellent all the way around
I did a lot of research into sound bar systems in the $100-$300 price range. I have never written a review before, but felt that too many reviewers were marking this item down because of remote compatibility. I have a Harmony One, and it worked flawlessly. The sound is great, and it's a very sleek, nice looking system. Sound quality is well above average and you can customize the sound to suite what your watching (sports, movie, games...) I got a great deal on this system at a local retailer, and if you have the opportunity to grab this on sale I would take full advantage of it.

Good Product
This product has great sound and I found it at a GREAT price on Amazon.com. I was told by a local retailer (Best Buy) that it did not come with a Toslink Audio cable. When the sound bar arrived, I of course find out that the cable was included. I called Amazon.com customer support to see if returning the cable I bought with the sound bar would be worth it after shipping and such, because the cable only cost about $5. After restocking fees and shipping, it wouldn't be worth it to return, but Amazon CREDITED MY ACCOUNT the cost of the cable anyways! It was a pleasure to deal with Amazon when purchasing this item and several others. I never take the time to write reviews but Amazon was so awesome to deal with, I had to review; not only to say it was such a great product, but that Amazon is a pleasure to buy from and I will never resort to using local retailers like Best Buy, but will stick with what works, and that's Amazon!
Great Sound.
Fist and foremast, the sound is very good. When I sit at my sofa I can hear depth. I also had an issue with trying to control the Soundbar volume with anything other than the supplied remote. I couldn't get my DirecTv remote to do it, either. But, since I wanted to reduce my number of remotes anyway, I bought a Harmony remote and it has been controlling the volume of the Soundbar fine.

Having ordered (here on Amazon) this system based on the high ratings and reviews, I felt compelled to write a review to those contemplating this system.
Visually: Like most others have stated, it is a nice looking system. Shiny plastics all around. Very nice bright display. An uncluttered unit with touch sensitive 'buttons'.
Build quality: Again like most others have stated, it has a nice solid build. The speaker stands (bottoms) are heavy enough to anchor the top portion of the speakers. The main unit doesn't feel cheap and looks to be well made, crafted, and constructed.
Options: It has 2 HDMI in connections and 1 HDMI out connection. An optical-in connection, as well as an AUX-in connection. Speaker connections are color coded as well as connection specific according to the speaker that will be connected. There are plenty of options for the user once the unit is turned on from the Samsung Smart Hub, to the various preset sound settings. Video streaming...

The HT-D6730w is very good for the price and seems to have corrected the problems that you may have read about by the end users of the HT-C6930W.

The sound is as good as my 8 year old Onkyo system which cost $1500. Although my Onkyo is better built with polished aluminum speakers/AV and a AC power sub (the Samsung is high gloss piano finished plastic) the processing for surround seems to work better with this Samsung system. (Modern technology) at it best ;-)

The system is very well packed in its box and took me as much time to unpack it as it did to set up, about an hour from start to finish and looks/sounds great with my 65 DLP TV.

I was a little confused looking at the picture and only counting 5 speakers plus sub; how could it be 7.1 The two front tower speakers is 2 separate speakers in 1. Therefore by counting them twice you come up with 7 plus the sub...
Convenient, good bang for the buck
Bought this mostly for three reasons:
1. So I wouldn't have any compatibility problems with my Samsung TV
2. Rear wireless speakers (although not true wireless, sure beats having wires or having to running wires across the living room)
3. Tallboy front speakers. (I have my TV mounted on the wall, so having these tall speakers helps the room look proportional. And I don't have to buy speaker stands for them)

Obviously if you are looking for a system with the best sound quality there are better products out there in this price range, but I was looking for a specific set of features.
During my research to find a stereo system that had the perfect blend of qualities, features, and price I came to the conclusion that this was the perfect one for what I was looking for.
I've had this product now for about a month, and have no complaints. The 3D blu-ray works well with my TV, I like the Ipod/Iphone cradle that it comes with to play my tunes, the sounds...

Let me start by saying that I am very happy with my Samsung home theater and have no intentions of returning it. I had an older Panasonic system that I had been very happy with but it was starting to give me a few issues and it was time to move to something that would work with all of today's technology. looks nice, sounds great.
I got this yesterday (6-5-2012) and was able to get it hooked up easy. the rear cables are just long enough for the rear speakers. front, center and woofer have plenty of wire. i have nothing but samsung tv's so the remote replaced my tv remote out of the box no programing. if you use a optical cable it know's to use that for the audio without any setting changes by you either. less work from me is always better. the wireless is good too. I've streamed movies from my computer and that was simple through the hub menu. over all I'm glad i bought this and think that if you own a samsung tv have a wireless network in your home and want a theater system that sounds nice buy it. also it add's 2 hdmi imputs to your set up, if you need that.
Pretty decent, with a few annoying design issues
Overall the Samsunbg HT-E5400 works as advertised. A few comments that might help others:
- Sound quality is supposed to be a strength of this system. Well, I suppose it's pretty good for what the system is (considering low power when measured realistically, tiny speakers, and so on). But no one should confuse it with high-end audio. Having said that, I would give it five stars as being pretty good in its class, that class being very compact, low cost home-theater-in-a-box systems.

- The remote control supposedly can control both the home theater system and TV functions. Make that a few TV functions. You can turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume, and move through your predefined channel list. Wait, can't you select a TV channel using the numeric keypad? Yes, provided that you want to select analog channels. You remember analog channels, the ones that don't exist any more...they were phased out in 2009. Incredibly, there's no way to select a digital channel, such as...

Great Soundsystem
I love everything about this sound system. Maybe I'm old fashioned and have not caught up on the other systems that are out there but I love what it has to offer. I do have it connected to wifi but I really don't use it for any other services but watch DVD's and BlueRays. The picture quality of the blue ray player is amazing and so is the sound system. As for as the rear wireless speakers, it is not completely wireless but the wires are hiding behind the couch so it is no big deal. I plugged in the iPod and the docking station and the display is on the tv which is great as oppose doing it on the iPod. The Bass on the subwoofer is deep and heavy. I love it. Watch Jurassic Park on it and you will see!! Play a Star Wars movie on it and feel it! I recommend this soundsystem.

Great sounding system although misleading about 7.1
Let me start off by saying I have a very keen ear. I rate many audio setups and speaker systems. All true audiophiles know that a HTIB just simply cannot replicate the sound quality of a component system made up of true, high-quality manufactured speakers. That being said, you will not find a closer alternative than this new Samsung system with vacuum tubes. I have owned 4 HTIBs from different manufacturers and I have found Samsung and LG to be at the top, with Sony coming in close behind LG.

Audio - The main reason one would spend this amount of money on a system is for the audio. You want your blu-rays, video games, audio cds and mp3's to come to life and spring out of every speaker. Does this system do that? Absolutely. There is no denying the work that Samsung has put into approaching the high-end audio side of things. These speakers clearly sound better than previous Samsung systems and I feel for people who purchased last year's D model of this system. Of course,...

Sounds good for what it is.
I've always been a seperate component owner. This is my first HTIAB, I was searching for wireless rear speakers, a much better option for me than just a soundbar (this is for the living room, I do have a Vizio VHT 510 real 5.1 soundbar in the bedroom, works great).

For starters, it's not a true 7.1, it's a 5.1. There are only 2 physical side/rear speakers, not 3 or 4 for a true 6.1 or 7.1 (they are claiming that the top speakers on the two front towers make it 7.1 but virtual, that's just BS, who puts rear speakers on front towers) Naughty advertising there Samsung, shame shame. Also be aware that it comes with a passive SW, not self powered.

That being said, I was surprised how good it sounds. Very clear speakers, and for a passive SW not bad, pretty beefy.

The real surprise here and good news is that the wireless rear speakers work incredible (still need wires to the rear transmitter though), well done there Samsung.

Well... I bought this product from another store last week but leaving my review here because Amazon is the only place with comparably bad reviews of this model based on some wrong information.
Actually, I visited many review sites before I bought this great product and the reviews on Amazon really made me hesitate to buy this one.
But, now I'm very satisfied and want to leave my review here.

Firstly, the sound is really good, the best one among those I've ever tried in this price range.

Secondly, it is 7.1 channel. I don't know why the others wrote that it is not.
Please compare this model with HT-E6500W. It is 5.1 channel with the same speakers.
However, this model, E6730W, has additional top speakers hooked by separate cables.
Those top speakers are really working thru separated channels.
