Fantastic for Home Theater
About a week ago, I upgraded to the Klipsch Sub-12 from a lower powered 10" sub to complete the 7.1 home theater set up in my 12ft by 19ft basement room. I watch a lot of action movies and concerts on Blu-Ray/DVD. I highly recommend this subwoofer if you like to feel the deep bass and to shake the house. I located the sub at the front left corner of the room (about 10" away from the walls). This Klipsch seems to play noticeably deeper and louder (with power to spare) than the sub that I replaced. The sound from the subwoofer is not directional. Its sound just fills the room.

One small negative (easily fixed) is the small blue LED light on the lower front face of the subwoofer cabinet. The light shows that the sub is ON and operating. In my dark room, the LED is too bright. My solution was to simply put a small piece of black electrical tape over the light to hide it. The tape blends in with the cabinet and is not noticeable.

BOOM BOOM! Clean LOWS!
I owned the original Klipsch Sub-12 (same model as Sub-12HG except minor cosmetics) and gave it to a friend a couple years ago. I've regretted doing that ever since and have been on the look-out for a powered sub with comparable quality at a competitive price. Needless to say, I haven't had much luck... until the Sub-12HG went on sale for $250!!! You can't find ANYTHING comparable for that price, or even around $300. I'm totally stoked and am going to love every minute I have this turned on. Perfect for music, movies, etc. You can control the amount of power the amp delivers to the sub (gain) and the frequency that is allowed to pass through the built in cross-over (adjustable from 40 to 120Hz). The auto-power switch is also a nice feature since you don't have to constantly hassle with turning off the sub when you are done.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with the quality of another sub in this price range... this is really a $500 sub and that's not MSRP crap! To top it...
Pleasant surprise
When I bough this subwoofer I was a bit skeptical. I have been researching for quite a while and narrowed my choices between this Klipsch Sub-12 and a Polk Audio PSW-505. I have been reading all the reviews that praised the sound of the Klipsch for under "$500" and the sort, but said that there are better sounding subwoofers out there in much higher price ranges. While the Polk PSW-505 seems like a very comparable subwoofer based on specs and price alone, I decided to go with the Klipsch because of the down-firing design. After opening, installing and properly setting up this sub, I was completely blown away that such sound can come from a home theater subwoofer. The power is more than anyone would ever need to listen to movies or even music, and the sound itself can hit so low that your whole house will be shaking. Bose - more than just a "name" product
We just bought the Bose AM-3 Series speakers to replace 16 year old KEF speakers. We needed the space the old ones took up, and decided since we didn't listen to the stereo as much anymore, we could sacrifice some performance quality for size.
What a wonderful surprise to find that after hooking them up we lost nothing in quality. In fact, because we could place the mini-speakers up high (off the floor and out of the way), we have much better sound separation.
We weren't sure whether to go with the 3-Series or the 5-Series, but the 3's are fine for our needs. We would definitely recommend these for anyone who has moved past the old "audiophile" phase and wants really good sound at an affordable price.

Good Little Speakers
I needed some small, wife-approved speakers for the living room. We have an entertainment system in the basement but I wanted the ability to play music on the main floor of our house. These speakers are very small but sound great for the size. You won't mistake them for big full-range towers.

1. These require a stereo receiver / amp.
2. The speakers hook up just like regular speakers. Wires are included.
3. The sub-woofer is passive - it doesn't need AC power.
Great, robust little system
I am always amazing at the amount of flaming that Bose products seem to instigate on message boards. Clearly, people buy the stuff and so perhaps it is just that web noise.

I have had a set of AM-3s for 11 years. I originally bought them for a rehearsal area where space was tight and I wanted something I could put on the wall, but I got more than I bargained for. As you might guess, I am a musician.

I have been using these in my main parlor/music room area now for 6 years and I am always pleased. They produce a remarkably full sound that is clear and emotional, and they occupy virtually no space. Instruments and voices are rendered with admirable neutrality, and music of all types and time periods sounds just plain good. They can play at surprisingly high volumes without complaint connected to my 150 watt Pioneer receiver.

My only beefs: The single cubes are a bit directional at high frequencies, but not overly so (the bigger double-cube AM-5s solve...

Polk PSW-10: Great, with some reservations
I purchased this subwoofer about 2 months ago and since then have given it an extensive listening test. Following is a list of things I would do to improve sound quality as well as some reservations I have toward it.

Before I start off, I would like to clarify one thing about the PSW-10 that might unjustly turn off potential buyers from it: it runs at 50 watts RMS. In the world of music and sound systems, one of the biggest misconceptions out there is that wattage directly correlates with how loud a speaker is. THIS IS NOT NECCESARILY TRUE! The efficiency of the driver determines how loud it gets at a certain wattage, not only the amount of power you're pumping into it! This is why you can buy, for example, computer speakers that boast 400watts of power and have them easily massacred in terms of volume by speaker set ups with half the power (for further examples, compare computer speaker systems to shelf systems to a true sound system. Polk Audio PSW10 Powered Subwoofer
While I was looking for sub-woofer I was comparing PSW10 and PSW404. PSW404 sounds better but for the price $110 vs. $250 at J&R I opted for PSW10. The sale representative dropped the price for me even though they still selling PSW10 for $200 here. Those of you who worry about no LFE input, that shouldn't be a problem. All you have to do is connect the sub-woofer output of the receiver to either the right or left input on the sub-woofer. And then set the variable low pass filter on the sub-woofer to the highest setting. This will set the internal low pass filter above the low pass filter frequency given by your receiver and create an LFE input. Or you may use a RCA cable to provide a connection to both inputs on the sub-woofer from the LR pre-out from the receiver. Then adjust the cross over frequency from the woofer as desired. It sounds a little louder and better for me. I bought Monster sub-woofer cable and it sounds no better than RCA cable. Try not to waste your money on this. It...
Excellent sound
I'm using this with an Onkyo TR-606 alongside a Toshiba 62" DLP HDTV and a full set of Polk speakers, and the sound quality is remarkable.

The only caveat is that the subwoofer input has two connectors, but you really only need to connect one of them. The manual is far from clear about this, and plenty of people will probably spend extra on a Y cable, or worse yet, put in an adapter which will add both cost and loss of fidelity. But just connecting to the left input works fine. Subwoofers are mono anyway, and the double inputs are primarily there to make certain wiring configurations easier, not to add more sound fidelity.

Great for multi-room application with small space
Bose Lifestyle 48 system outperforms all previous Bose Lifestyle and Receiver Acoustimass combos. You cannot find a better sounding Bose speaker - bass model - media center combination on the market. The expansion, frills, design, power, sound and easy of use of this system is geared towards the customer branded public. This system is slightly expensive at all Bose stores. The system was bought by myself for multi-room reasons and space requirements. I have not experienced a more friendly on-screen setup and display and sheer volume of recordable songs onto the system from any other system. Overall this system is a dream for somebody which like home theater and stereo sound and wants to be able to not have to change disc every hour. There's more to stereos than frequency response
Bose are like the Toyota of speakers. If you ask the most elite professionals if they are the best, the answer is no. There are much better speakers to be had, just like there are better cars than Corollas, but there are tradeoffs. Size, price, appearance, and personal tastes should all be considered. Bose speakers are extremely compact, setup is quite simple, and while they do not have a perfectly linear response curve, they are quite loud and distortion free at high volumes. Very few speakers of this size can be used at such high volumes without causing damage, and the others that can cost as much or more. Of course with unlimited money and unlimited speaker sizes you can make something that sounds better or has a more linear response curve. However, if someone wants a very compact speaker system to mount on the wall away from children, has a relatively modest budget of $1,000, and isn't worried that a clarinet may sound eight to ten decibels quieter than a flute in an...

Besides BOSE, who says BOSE is the best?
I hooked up the acoustimass speakers to Harman Kardon AVR 154 receiver. If you are into audio, you will know that although this receiver is not very powerful, the sound quality it delivers is excellent.

Purpose: My purpose in purchasing this system was two folds: Music and movies.

Setup: Setting up this system is a breeze. All cables are color coded and there's plenty of it (20 ft for the front speakers and 50 ft for the rear or surround speakers). All you have to remember is that all the cables first go into the module, and then one single cable (actually a set of 5 joined together) are connected to the receiver. I think this system was up and running within 20 minutes of me unpacking it.

What's included: You will get 4 cube array (vertical) speakers, one center speaker (identical to the cube arrays, just horizontal) and one BOSE module which houses all the connections and the sub woofer.

Excellent 5.1 Sound System from Bose
I had bought this to be used with my new entertainment system comprising of Samsung HLT6187S 61" Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV, Sony STR-DG910 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver, Bose? Acoustimass? 10 Series IV home entertainment speaker system, Pioneer DV-400V HDMI Multi Region DVD Player, Rocketfish Universal Wireless Rear Speaker Kit and a custom HTPC.

The speakers are Bose satellite speakers. So they are very small, but they deliver excellent sound quality. You can swivel the top speaker to bounce the sound off walls to customize the feel you want for surround sound.

All connections are made from the massive sub woofer which then connects to your A/V Receiver. Too quite a bit of work to get this all working, but it was worth it in the end.

The speaker cable lengths are incredible. A little too long for what I needed. I ended up shortening and binding up more than 70% of the cable just so that I wouldn't have a crazy mess behind and around my...
